About Edward D. Clark
I am an enterprise architect, independent researcher, and entrepreneur working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, organizational systems, and collective behavior.
My career has centered on designing systems that must operate reliably under complexity. Through enterprise architecture, cloud modernization, healthcare interoperability, and artificial intelligence, I have worked to translate difficult ideas into durable technical systems.
That work led to a broader research question: contemporary AI has become increasingly capable of understanding individuals, but under what conditions can it also infer latent conditions defined at the level of a bounded collective?
Collective-State Inference grew from that question. The research develops a computational organization theory specifying when evidence distributed across interaction, relationships, time, and context warrants interpreting an AI output as a latent condition of the collective itself.
Many organizational phenomena are defined at levels that cannot be understood by examining individuals alone. My work investigates when artificial intelligence can infer collective conditions from appropriately composed evidence—and what is required for those inferences to be theoretically valid, empirically supported, and meaningfully attributable to the collective itself.
